First Farm Update 1/12/21

Amanda and I are both from Mississippi and moved to Tuscaloosa Alabama in December of 2018 and began looking for a place for establishing our farm. After looking for over a year we finally found it. The land was part of a much larger tract that was farmed prior to the 1940’s but left for nature to reclaim. The land was cut for timber a couple times over the years and was last cut in 2016. When we bought the land, it was overgrown in brush and kudzu was consuming most of the property. I have spent the last few months slowly clearing the brush.

We finally got enough cleared to begin building fences and begin planning the farm layout although there is still a lot of clean up needed.

Inspecting the progress with Sebek

We hired a dirt construction company to clear about 2 acres of the land, install a driveway, prepare the pad for a barn and riding arena. This is the current state of the farm, over the next few weeks we will be working on getting utilities installed and finish our fencing. We hope that you will continue to follow along with us on this journey.
